Neurologic Music Therapist, Beth Susag, Portrait with Drum

About Our Approach

Beth’s work is deeply grounded in the values of respect, dignity, compassion, trust, empowerment, forgiveness, love, joy, and grace. Rhythm In Motion provides a compassionate and enriching environment, specifically designed for neurodiverse individuals with sensory and motor differences who cannot rely on their speaking voice to communicate effectively. Beth partners with each individual and their family, where:

  • Respect and dignity are given.
  • Competence and age-level intelligence are presumed.
  • Rhythm, coupled with proprioceptive and motor input, optimizes brain-body connections.
  • Communication through the use of whiteboards and letterboards conveys thoughts, ideas, and emotions.
  • Emotional needs are validated and coached, often around grief and trauma for the individual and family.
  • Creativity, gifts, and spiritual insights are respected and honored.
  • Self-advocacy is fostered and promoted.
  • Individuals are seen, heard and respected.
  • Families are encouraged to utilize strategies at home.

Caring for Clients Comes First

When our daughter, Mary, first began working with Beth more than 20 years ago, we never imagined the incredible journey that lay ahead. Mary has Tuberous Sclerosis and epilepsy, which have made it difficult for her brain and body to work together in the way she wants them to. Finding someone who truly understands those challenges—and who never gives up—has been one of the greatest blessings for our family. Through neurologic music therapy, Beth has helped Mary make meaningful progress in overcoming her brain-body disconnect. More recently, she has also been supporting Mary in learning spelling-based communication, giving her a reliable way to express her thoughts, ideas, and personality. Watching Mary find her voice has been nothing short of life-changing.

It has opened a whole new world for her and has forever changed our family. Beth has an extraordinary gift for seeing the person before the disability. She believes deeply in the potential of every client and always presumes competence. She meets each individual exactly where they are, celebrating every success while gently encouraging them to reach even higher. Her patience, compassion, creativity, and joyful spirit make every session a place where Mary feels valued, understood, and capable.

As a parent, there is no greater comfort than knowing your child is with someone who genuinely loves what they do and cares so deeply about the people they serve. Beth has become so much more than a therapist to our family—she has been a trusted guide, a devoted advocate, and a source of hope through every stage of Mary’s journey.

We will always be grateful for the impact Beth has had on Mary’s life. If you are looking for someone with exceptional skill, unwavering dedication, and a heart full of compassion, I cannot recommend Beth highly enough.
